AVP Pro JoAnna Papageorgiou!!!
I had the pleasure of working with JoAnna down in Hermosa Beach. We did a photo shoot with JoAnna for Omega XL. JoAnna uses Omega XL (www.omegaxl.com) to decrease her inflammation due to training and competing at the highest levels in women’s professional beach volleyball.

European Indoor Volleyball
May 2001 Played in Spring Cup Tournament in Brno, Czech Republic, as right side hitter for American All-Star Team, with Bring It Promotions, against European National Teams such as Slovenia, Finland, Turkey, Sweden, and Denmark.
2001-2002 Played middle hitter for TPV Novo Mesta, Slovenia. Team leader in blocks and kills. Team moved up into the top 5 in country. Also trained twice weekly with Novo Mesto’s men’s volleyball team.
May 2002 Played again in the Spring Cup Tournament with American All-Star Team, with Bring It Promotions, against such European National teams as Turkey, Spain, and Denmark.
2002 Played middle hitter, left side hitter, and right side hitter for the St. Fons team in Lyon, France. Team placed 2nd in league and was promoted to the top league in France.
2004-2005 Played middle hitter for team Iraklis Kifisias in Greece. Team placed 1st in A2 and was promoted to A1, the top league in Greece.
2005-2006 Returned as middle hitter for Iraklis Kifisias. Team placed 4th in Greece’s A1 and was promoted to the European Cup.
April-June 2006 Played middle hitter for Greek Indoor National Team. For the third time played in Spring Cup Tournament, this time for Greece. Team placed 2nd
2006-2007 Played middle hitter for AEK in A1 in Greece, while training daily in beach volleyball. Garnered much attention and a full-page color article and front-page picture in AEK’s November 26, 2006, edition of Ora Yia Spor newspaper.
2007-2008 Played outside hitter (left side to hone beach volleyball skills) for small local team of Pireas, Porfiras, in order to advance team to the next level; focusing on beach volleyball off-season rather than playing A1 and having to travel, etc.
Beach Volleyball
1997-2005 Played in local (Iowa and Illinois) tournaments against men. Played in several women’s and coed tournaments, winning 1st place in the coed sand doubles tournament in Davenport, Iowa. Played in EVP and AVP tournaments with different partners for fun in the summers before returning to Greece to play indoor volleyball.
June-August 2006 Played in three beach volleyball tournaments in Greece immediately after finishing with the Greek National Team. Placed 3rd in the first tournament in Mikonos with partner Flora Ioanou. Media coverage in Greek newspapers Goal and Sportime. Caught attention of the Greek National Team head coach; trained with the national team and coaches.
Winter 2006-2007 Trained beach volleyball with the two Greek beach volleyball national teams and their coaches in Athens, Greece, while playing indoor volleyball as a middle hitter for AEK in A1.
Summer 2007 Started beach volleyball career with teammate Christina Roubani. Played in Greek tour and internationally as a Greek national team. Place 7th in the FIVB Challenger in Cyprus, 2nd in the Greek Masters in Santorini, and 3rd in the Greek Finals in Kalymnos the first season together. Received television, newspaper, and internet coverage with photos, interviews, and game footage. Also had magazine photo spreads and stories for two magazines in Greece: Kathimerini (the Greek Herald Tribune) and Avanti (an international fashion magazine).
March 2008: Volleyball career temporarily interrupted due to broken hand and surgery from volleyball injury occurring in Greece
Summer 2009 Returned to the beach volleyball while working full time as a personal trainer in California. First season in AVP, finished 25th once and 33rd twice and in the top 60 in eight AVP tournaments. Also earned 17th place finish in AVP Young Guns.
Fall 2009-Future Intense preparation period for the 2010 season; will resume playing as a Greek national team for the Olympic qualifying period (April 2010 – July 2012). Will achieve goal of winning gold for Greece in the 2012 Olympics in London, England!
