In this week’s episode, I discuss how the margin between success and failure is tiny.
You can apply this to all of the following Hero vs. Villain scenarios.
Angel vs. Devil
Good vs. Evil
Light vs. Dark
Success vs. Failure
Consistency Compounds (Works Aggressively Both Ways: Positive and Negative)
Consistency: steadfast adherence to the same principles. Human beings aggressively follow routines and patterns.
Routines: regular, unvarying, habitual, unimaginative, or rote procedure. Or an unvarying and constantly repeated formula, as of speech or action; convenient or predictable response.
This is where the danger of apathetic standards and tolerations can lead to your downfall and ultimate failure.
Compounding NEGATIVE Consistency is what creates the challenges and adversities in your life.
Powerful Positive Consistency is what destroys roadblocks and turns adversity into opportunity.
Certainty vs. Uncertainty
Certainty: an assured fact
Uncertainty: the state of doubt; hesitancy
Most people use uncertainty as a self-imposed roadblock on the success highway. They claim they don’t know what they want. They don’t know how to get what they want. Or are so unsure of their personal worth they claim not to want anything at all. All of these are lies we tell ourselves because they keep us in a perceived state of safety. If we don’t try, then we cannot fail.
Imagine someone you know who is certain. They know who they are, what they want, and act as if it is their destiny to go after it without regard for failure.
Now imagine someone you know that is uncertain. They have no clue who they are, what they want, and there’s not a chance in hell they will take a risk because they could and most likely will fail.
The difference is that the certain person knows they will fail and most likely fail often. This excites them because they understand that in the failure, they will find the answer to the question they need to unlock the next door of opportunity.
Commitment vs. Complacency (Opportunity Is Found In Action Not Apathy)
Commitment: the act of committing, pledging, or engaging oneself ~ a pledge or promise; obligation: dedication; allegiance
Complacency: a false feeling of security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect
The phrase Committed vs. Interested comes to mind when I think of the radical difference between these two mindsets.
When you are interested in something, you only do It when it’s convenient. When you are committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.
Most people have a plan B or a contingency plan for what they will do when their plan A fails or, more likely, when they don’t apply the required effort for their plan A to succeed.
The problem with this is one of a psychological nature. The human brain is designed to find and take the path of least resistance. Your plan B will always register as the easier path when compared to plan A, even if this is not factually accurate.
So, if you plan on being wildly successful and hitting your goals and dreams, you must enter the fight with no exit strategy. Burn the bridge behind you and go all-in committed to your success.
And if you’re just interested, well, then don’t waste your time or the time of all those that you recruit to support you on your journey.
